Located on the shore of Lake Austin, the home was designed for a large family to enjoy a relaxing lakeside lifestyle.

Mature Pecan trees bordering the site help shape the roof form and become the backdrop for interior spaces. The roof of the great room is lifted to frame the tree canopies and bring in natural light. A thin, lightweight roof is achieved with an exposed mass timber structure. Vertical cedar cladding dramatically adds to the height of the entry while solid stone walls move through transparent planes of glass. As the primary transparent form in an otherwise solid facade facing the street, the stair becomes a welcoming lantern with open risers wrapped in glass. Spaces along the rear of the home are centered around family time outdoors, entertaining, and boating on Lake Austin.

Throughout the home, natural materials move from interior to exterior, strengthening the design’s connection to nature.
