Foursquare Builders completed this private estate overlooking Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.  The client had negotiated for some time with another builder prior to deciding at the last moment to select Foursquare.  At that point the architecture was largely complete however we spent several months prior to beginning construction re-evaluating the design and structural engineering.  As a result, we believe over $500,000 of cost savings resulted. From its inception, the goal of this project was to build a home that would prove to be sustainable, while offering many features of current Green construction techniques. This process started with extensive research into site sustainability and carried through to water and energy efficiencies, proper selection of materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. The resulting project is a home that provides for over 9kw of Photovoltaic electrical production, more than 30,000 gallons of rainwater collection, high performance framing techniques, exterior materials requiring little to no long term maintenance, landscaping that requires little upkeep and which conforms to the natural environment and the use of many efficiently produced products.  Construction of this project was completed in five months less time than planned by the other builder.  Based on Foursquare’s estimates at the time of commencement, the project was completed on schedule and significantly below budget.
